In hovercraft office, we have been studying about cushion stability of ACVs ( Air Cushion Vehicles ). In late years, research and development of ACC ( Air Cushion Catamaran ) which utilized air cushion as a high speed craft of the next generation goes simultaneously. ACC is lifted by air cushion, and cruise at high speed on the sea. There is SES (Surface Effect ship ) as a similar carrier. But, if more than half of gross weight of carrier is supported by buoyancy, it is called ACC in particular. Accordingly maximum speed of the ACC decreases when compares it with SES, but can transport a large quantity of freight. In addition, maneuvering performance improves, too. We have been performing fundamental researches of ACC, and constructed a 4.6 m experimental craft to find out the possibility of ACC. In our new concept ACC, it has a skirt only in the bow, and adopt air jet in the aft. We call it APAS ( Aft Pneumatic jet Air cushion Ship ). Please contact us by E-mail, if you have an interest.
